The Pride of Owasso will be returning in 2023 to participate in the same parade they were in seven years ago.

I have graciously volunteered to make an attempt at answering these questions, or at least making it easier for others to decide. I have visited the three biggest chicken wing restaurants in Owasso with help from Jackson Nester and Ian Busking to determine what flavors are the best to order and which wing restaurant is worthy of the title, “Best Wings in Owasso.”

Sometimes it can be hard to keep track of all the new take-out chains opening in Owasso, so it’s not often when an entirely local restaurant captures Owasso’s heart, yet, it’s Phawida Boonbang, also known as Pandy, who is managing to do just that. 

The We Matter foundation and Owasso High School have taken the initiative to help not only inform people about suicide, but also help prevent it.

Passion, fashion, talents and tricks: the 16th annual Mr. Owasso pageant truthfully had it all.

It’s not uncommon for students to feel anxious or uneasy at school. Luckily, the students here at Owasso High School have a perfect escape for that. As head librarian of the East Campus Media Center, Melinda Gallagher has created a hidden oasis for students from all walks of life - the East Campus’ Idea Lab. 

He concludes that for the players, “It’s kind of an us-against-everybody mentality. You kind of get to circle the wagons, and it’s just us in there. You get to build a bond and then they are playing for each other and for the team, rather than for individual accolades, which I love.”

“The club provides a platform for eSports players to showcase their skills,” Ty Paine, one of the club’s coaches, explained.

Owasso High School holds home to many interests, from learning a new language to farming and, now,  garden railways. Gregory Yankey, an AP World History teacher, has an up and coming train club dedicated entirely to Garden Railways. 

The Owasso Rams Student Section said, “Beach the Bulldogs,” and they did just that. The Owasso Rams football team is starting off their season strong.

Realizing long-term goals is a critically important tool for successful individuals. While actualizing these goals is a tedious and often painful process, the rewards are profound. This aptly describes the filmmaking process of “The Arena” —a multi-part web series directed by Jarrett Moody starring Ben Ricketts, Kylie Kesterson, Logan Dawson and others.

The Owasso Rams volleyball team just won their last few games in Orlando, Florida and are headed on the long 24 hour drive back home. The Rams played in a large tournament there and are looking to keep up the momentum from where they left off when they get back home. One of the players who stands out the most so far in the 2021 season for the Rams is Lauryn Walters, an OHS senior.

As COVID-19 continues to ravage the country, the film industry suffers more and more. The decline of the movie theatre has never been more evident than in movies such as “Tenet,” “SpongeBob: Sponge On the Run” and “Black Widow.”

One of the things I find most disappointing about our culture is how much stock we put into “image” and how we are perceived by those around us. For so long I have seen people pretend to be a different person just to be liked by people.

The Owasso High School Jazz Choir performed their Spring Concert on Monday, May 10. The concert consisted of seven group songs and six solo songs from different members of the group. This was the only concert that the group had performed this year, as the pandemic halted a lot of plans and normal traditions for the choir.

Last week at Owasso High School, senior students got a fun surprise to pick up in the main office. Brought all the way from 2016, seniors got the opportunity to read their letters they wrote to their 18 year old self from seventh grade.

There are many seniors throughout Owasso who have just wrapped up their high school careers. Whether that lasted the whole four years or just one season, every one of them overcame many challenges, made lifelong friends and, during the process, made lots of memories.

Small steps at a time and big leaps towards a great season. The Owasso Rams Marching Band is eager and has already started preparing for the fall season.
