As OHS students got ready for spring break and finished up with school work and tests, the Owasso saxophone players were on a bus heading west to spend an exciting four days in the Centennial State: Colorado.
The Owasso Saxophone Ensemble has had their fair share of trips together, such as their visit to the Midwest Clinic 2023 in Chicago, Illinois. These talented young students work day and night to reach their award winning status; these achievements show just how much time and effort is put into the music group. 22 students, including three eighth graders, were chosen to perform with the Colorado University of Boulder Saxophone Ensemble. One Owasso Ensemble, Two Owasso Quartets, One Colorado Quartet, and the two ensembles together all performed at this tremendous concert.
“The concert wasn’t about the performance…it was about working together,” junior saxophone Hailey Mansard stated.
However, this performance wasn’t the only thing on these student’s agenda.
As the Owasso Saxophones entered Colorado, a fresh blanket of snow flurried over the mountains and across the streets. So, in good old teenager fashion, they decided to spend some of their time prancing around in the snow and spending a chilly time together in the mountains.

With frozen hands and chapped lips but a continuous laughter nonetheless, this flurry-filled time proved that although they are seen as professionals in this musical environment, they can still be kids.
