Owasso Varsity Cheer: A stunted start to the season

By Makayla Sordo

With the start of the Owasso Rams football season comes high hopes and even higher pom-poms. Last Saturday, Owasso High School’s Varsity Cheer team made their way to Broken Arrow High School to compete in Regionals, their first competition of the year.

After practicing all summer and perfecting a routine, the team managed to place top three on the scoreboard. While the team had hoped for first place with their virtually perfect routine, an unexpected stunt fall deducted points from the overall score landing them in third. Despite the setback, they will still head to State in the following weeks.

Addison Rhoades, a senior on the team, gave her opinion stating, “We did exactly what we needed to do to get to State; that's what matters. I know we’ll prove ourselves there,” she said triumphantly.

After a difficult start to the season, the cheer team doesn’t falter in their efforts. They will continue to practice for State in the days leading up, and supply every Friday night football game with indomitable school spirit.

The Owasso Varsity Cheer team never fails to disappoint the student body, and they’re sure to make Owasso High School proud at upcoming competitions.
