Op-Ed: OMG Lounge lives up to their acronym

Going to the nearest fast food place, grabbing a mediocre burger with some half-baked fries, and going on your merry way may be quick and convenient. Fast food chains like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Braum’s or Whataburger tend to offer subpar American patties that have stayed frozen for eons, favoring corporate quantity over quality. But not so with OMG Lounge—or dare I say—the best out-of-the-way burger joint in the entire town, if not the entire state.
Now, listen, I get it. When I first heard the name “OMG Lounge,” I thought it meant it was the “Oh My God” lounge, because they were claiming their burgers were just that good. The acronym actually stands for “Oklahomies Mobile Gastronomy,” which is just a fancier way of saying they have some insane culinary skills they can use on the go—and they’re not lying.

After their online menu intrigued me to try it myself, I whipped my wheels over to snag a bite on North Garnett Road, their main location. Although they only permit people who are 21 years of age or older to enter the lounge, they allow anybody to order their freshly sizzlin’ sammies (yes, burgers are sandwiches) from their food truck behind the building.
Their menu offers a wide variety of exotic burgers and leaves even the most skeptical of food critics curious. With options like the Blue on Black, Holy Jalapeno, the Dad Bod, or Lil’ Homie Style, OMG Lounge offers such a unique selection so that everyone can enjoy a burger combo curated to their own preferences. Additionally, you can “Build Your Own” Burger to craft your personal magnum opus—or, you can even let the cooks amalgamate a random monster of a meal with the “Chef’s Choice” burger. I personally had trouble deciding before finally landing on one of their most popular burgers: the Fire Fly.
Let me just say—wow. The combination of a crispy, medium-well patty paired with jalapenos, Habanero Fire Fly Sauce, pepper jack cheese, bacon and toasted buns left me in a heat-inducing comfort-food coma. I can’t even begin to explain the flavor profile; the spicy, somewhat sweet aroma that blended with the juicy, seared beef melted my taste buds’ conception of delight. This is a true, gastronomic masterpiece of a burger.

The Fire Fly Fries accompanying my gorgeous delicacy were exceptionally divine. They were loaded with onions, Fire Fly sauce, bacon, and jalapenos. OMG’s crispy and fluffy fries merged against the mixed toppings which sat atop the soft, class-cut potatoes, leaving me utterly speechless and wishing I had seconds.

Without a doubt, this burger eatery and bar is a 9.5/10. Their incredible and authentic food style—cultivated with their family-friendly food truck and relaxing, inviting environment—helps this small company excel past any competition in Owasso. The only concern I have is with regards to the wait time; it took roughly 10-20 minutes to finally receive my food. However, the burger and fries exceeded my expectations—and checking my watch became a distant memory that melted away with the first bite. Oklahomies Mobile Gastronomy Lounge is a must-have location for any burger enthusiast—so go try it for yourself!
