There’s no fantastic revelation in the saying “history repeats itself,” especially when it comes to fashion trends. With the diverse styles adapted at Owasso High School, it’s no surprise that many students choose to wear similar styles to those of previous generations. Mothers of teenagers across America roll their eyes while watching their daughters and sons rock the same styles that were worn whenever they walked the halls of their own school. But which trends from the 90s are coming back into style? Some of these resurrected fashion statements are nothing short of shocking.

A girl’s hair can be her pride and joy or her pillar of her frustration. The 90’s knew how to manage this, however, with creative hair accessories such as butterfly clips, banana/claw clips, spiral cord hair ties or scrunchies. These trend setting accessories have certainly made their way back into the manes of countless Owasso students.

In the fabricated world, baggy jeans, such as JNCO jeans and flare jeans, are returning to the daily outfits of multiple students. These jeans are classic to the nineties, but many parents and teachers find their return to teenage fashion both disappointing and hilarious. Acid wash denim is definitely back in style and overalls are being complimented class after class. Low rise jeans have resurfaced to combat the previously trendy high-waisted jeans, but not only that, jeans in the halls are also often “french rolled”, so without a doubt, 90’s denim trends are back from the dead (if they ever left in the first place).

Other popular examples of accessories include bucket hats, bandanas, fanny packs, hoop earrings and chokers. Colored sunglasses and a classic 90’s slip/skater dress is a must for any Owasso girl’s perfect night out. As far as shoes, combat boots like Doc Martens are making a quick return from the 90’s, as are Converse and Vans sneakers.

The fast returning trends from the 90’s are truly part of the fashion culture at Owasso High School; they help unite students who express themselves through fashion. Many of the kind words exchanged amongst students have to do with clothes, and these clothing trends are a fun part of that.
