Superbowl, marshmallow men and Rhianna

With white suits and large-scale floating platforms, Rhianna took the stage for one of the biggest annual concerts: The Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Mixed emotions were the main takeaway after Rhianna’s performance at Super Bowl LVII. Emotion and energy took a back seat to Rhianna’s personal performance as she sang on a floating stage while what seemed to be hundreds of backup dancers made up for “boring” movements. However, this leisurely performance was played off to be intentional in a unique way. After reaching the ground again and breaking out a few well-timed dance moves, Rhianna was handed a makeup kit so she could perform a quick self-pamper (as well as promote her makeup brand Fenty Beauty) and continue on one of America’s biggest stages. 

Rhianna delivered as she performed all snippets from all of her greatest hits. There was speculation of a possible sneak peek of a new song due to the announcement of an album years ago that was never released, but unfortunately, Rhianna stuck strictly to her chart toppers.

One of the biggest buzzes after the performance was the unofficial announcement of Rhianna’s pregnancy. The singer has maintained a somewhat private life with few announcements sprinkled throughout the years. The statement of her clothes laid out the exciting news as she was head to toe in a red jumpsuit with the outer layer unzipped under her belly, perfectly showcasing her pregnancy.

Many found this announcement better than the show, for the performance was somewhat lackluster. In typical halftime shows, more than one act will take the stage as a guest or surprise appearance, but Rhianna decided to own the stage herself the entire way through, a bold yet fitting move for the legendary star.
