Owasso Athletics Latest Accomplishments

by Jaycee Hampton

Sports is something that brings the community together in any town, especially in a town like Owasso. It’s hard to not recognize the extraordinary talent Owasso athletes display daily.

Recent meets, matches and competitions have been in full swing for these highschoolers.

The Owasso Ram’s swimming team recently competed at state in Jenks. 17 swimmers represented the team during the meet and were ecstatic with the positive outcome. Junior Elizabeth Patterson placed seventh in the 50-yard freestyle, making podium.

Sophomore Mason Moan, sophomore Ahren Lamb, junior Zach Stelzer and junior Sean Wood all placed eighth in the 200-freestyle relay, also making podium.

Many other Rams placed in B finals and truly represented the hard work the team puts into their sport.

Another important sport to highlight is the wrestling team. This past weekend, they fought hard through the state tournament in Oklahoma City.

Senior Nate Jacobson finished third on the podium, senior Mark Turner finished fourth on the podium and sophomore EJ Tecson finished third on the podium. Owasso placed eighth overall in state.

Owasso varsity cheer also headed to Florida for UCA nationals a few weeks ago to claim titles as well.

Both teams advanced straight to finals; small co-ed placed 5th, and small varsity’s all-girl team placed 2nd.

It’s safe to say Owasso produces some of the best athletes in the state, and the Owasso community is undoubtedly proud of all of these athletes. With tremendous amounts of ram pride, congratulations to everyone!
