Junior Lauryn Walters and outside hitters on the varsity team put up an impressive five spikes and one block on the Comets. To reach the varsity level, Walters has done private lessons, extra workouts and some other skill work at home to get her extra reps in to better herself. After playing the sport for five years, there are a lot of things that Walters loves about the sport of volleyball.

“My favorite thing about playing volleyball, besides the sport itself, is probably the fact that I can play it with some of my closest friends,” exclaimed Walters. “It makes it so much more fun.”

To win the game you have to win three out of the five sets, each playing to twenty-five points. In the first set, the Rams edged out the Comets with a score of 25-23. Despite winning the first set the Rams lost in the second and third set with a score of 23-25 and 8-25. With the game on the line the Rams put up a close fight but ended up losing 23-25.

Trying to bounce back from losing on Thursday, Walters says, “right now our biggest goal is to win regionals, so that is what we are going to prepare for in practice this week.”

After two more regular season games, regionals will be held on October 13. If they win, they will get the chance to compete for the state championship. Come out to watch the Rams volleyball team as they try and win the rest of their games in hope to bring home the gold for Owasso.
