Do you remember that best friend you had in elementary school that you would do everything with? Well, on the girl’s basketball team, that elementary friend group is still thriving. Chloe Stocksen, Taylor Rose and Karson Zumwalt have all been playing basketball together since the fifth grade. Chloe and Karson knew each other since third grade and a couple years later Taylor joined them when they all decided to play basketball together. I’m sure they didn’t think they would still be best friends and playing basketball in the 11 grade, but here they are. I got the chance to talk to the three girls and learn about the chemistry they have on and off the court.

I first asked them how their friendship further developed due to the game of basketball.

“I would say our friendship has definitely strengthened because of basketball. We are always hanging out together because of basketball, and it’s hard not to get to know one another.” Rose remarked.

Not only did their friendship off the court strengthen, but their chemistry on the court also started to click as the years went on.

“We can all tell when we’re on the court together. We know a lot of the time when one of us is going to make a certain move. Due to us playing so long together, we can tell it definitely makes  a difference.”

The three obviously have great chemistry together when on the court, but they also made a point to not leave their other teammates out of the picture, especially the freshman who are just starting with the team. They recalled on their freshman experience by saying,

“Our freshman year was very tough, especially when meshing with the upperclassmen. They had big personalities some would say, but we learned from it and it helped us with learning how to treat incoming freshmen.”

The three learned to really make an effort in connecting with the freshman and making them feel comfortable in the locker room as well as on the court. From the interview I could tell that this group of girls were special not only when on the court, but as well as off the court.

This season has not gone how they wanted it to, but they still have a couple more games in which they hope to turn it around. The girl’s basketball team has a game on Tuesday, the 9, and has Senior night that same week on Friday at home, so make sure to go out and support your Rams as they look to close out the season strong.
